Keeping the insulating wraps of your cells in pertinent form is critical - if you've noticed a nick or tear in your wraps, do not use the cell until you've re-wrapped it. Always remove using ceramic tweezers starting at the negative terminal in order to avoid damage and ensure the insulating ring (doughnut of safety is a more palpable term) is positioned accordingly.
